Hello Friends!
There is something especially thoughtful about arriving with a gift for someone who has opened their home to you.
A hostess gift doesn’t have to be elaborate to feel special. In fact, some of my favorite gifts are the ones that are beautiful, useful, and easy for the recipient to enjoy long after the gathering is over.
For this simple hostess gift, I paired a wooden serving board with a cookbook, a soft kitchen towel, satin ribbon, and a fresh sprig of rosemary. Each piece serves a purpose on its own, but together they create a beautiful gift for someone who loves to entertain.

START WITH SOMETHING USEFUL
I love beginning with an item that can become part of the gift itself. A wooden serving board works beautifully because it serves as the foundation for the presentation and becomes something the recipient can enjoy long after the celebration.
Whether used for appetizers, cheeses, desserts, or everyday entertaining, it’s a practical piece that never goes out of style.

ADD A BOOK THEY’LL ACTUALLY ENJOY
A cookbook is one of my favorite gifts for someone who loves food and entertaining.
For this gift, I chose I’ll Bring the Apps: Bites, Bowls, Boards & Beverages by Marissa Mullen, creator of That Cheese Plate.
The book felt especially fitting because its focus on gathering, sharing, and serving delicious food complements the entire idea behind this thoughtful gift.
A cookbook also adds personality and inspiration, making the gift feel even more special.
SOFTEN IT WITH A KITCHEN TOWEL
A beautiful kitchen towel adds texture, color, and another useful element.
I chose a sage-and-cream striped towel that complements the deep green tones of the cookbook. Layering it between the board and the book introduces a little softness while allowing the natural wood to remain visible.
It’s a simple detail, but it makes the entire presentation feel more intentional.
FINISH WITH RIBBON
Beautiful ribbon has a way of transforming a few useful pieces into a thoughtful gift.
For this bundle, I chose a 1½-inch sage satin ribbon. Its soft sheen contrasts beautifully with the natural wood and textured towel.
I tied a generous bow across the center, allowing the ribbon to become part of the presentation without adding unnecessary embellishments.

ADD ONE NATURAL DETAIL
The finishing touch might be my favorite part!
A fresh sprig of rosemary tucked beneath the bow adds a lovely bit of greenery, subtle fragrance, and a natural connection to the cookbook’s food and entertaining theme.
Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference.

A SIMPLE FORMULA TO REMEMBER
The beauty of this gift is how easily it can be personalized.
Start with a useful serving piece, add a cookbook or another thoughtful item, layer in something soft, and finish with beautiful ribbon and a natural accent.
You could substitute a cocktail book, baking book, or another favorite entertaining title. Choose a towel and ribbon that complement the recipient’s personal style, and you have a gift that feels both practical and special.
For me, thoughtful gifting isn’t about adding more. It’s about choosing a few meaningful pieces and presenting them with care.
Because sometimes, the simplest gestures are the most memorable.
What’s your favorite gift to bring when someone invites you into their home? I’d love to hear your ideas!
