MEET EBONY PEOPLES-WORDLAW

I’m Ebony Peoples-Wordlaw—a celebration expert, entertaining enthusiast, and award-winning event planner who believes every day is worth celebrating.

My journey began with a love for creativity, organization, and bringing people together. After earning my degree in elementary education from Michigan State University, I transformed those same skills from the classroom into the event industry, where my attention to detail, creative vision, and genuine love for people became the foundation of my career.

I am the owner and principal planner of Ebony Peoples Events & Design, an award-winning planning and design boutique founded in Dallas, Texas, in 2011 after beginning my event planning journey in 2009. Known for blending timeless elegance with modern sophistication, I intentionally partner with a limited number of wedding and social celebration clients each year, creating personalized experiences defined by thoughtful design, refined details, and seamless execution. Today, I proudly serve clients in Atlanta and destinations beyond.

Over the years, my work has been featured in Ebony, Munaluchi Bride, and Modern Luxury Weddings. I have also been honored as a 2021 Dynamic Woman and a 2018 Woman of Power and Influence by The Atlantan. These recognitions reflect my commitment to creating meaningful celebrations that are beautifully designed, thoughtfully planned, and unforgettable.

While weddings and milestone celebrations remain an important part of my work, my passion extends beyond events. Through recipes, entertaining ideas, tablescapes, seasonal inspiration, and hosting tips, I inspire others to gather often, celebrate intentionally, and create meaningful moments at home and beyond.

Outside of designing celebrations and sharing my love for entertaining, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jovan, our son, Sebastian, and our pup, Chance. Whether I’m trying a new recipe for cookbook club, styling a beautiful table, exploring nature, or listening to ’90s R&B, I find inspiration in the simple moments that make life beautiful.

Basketball season is officially here. 🏀 Tomorrow Basketball season is officially here. 🏀

Tomorrow is Sebastian’s first game of the season, and with Jovan coaching his 5th grade team this year, I wanted to put together a little something for the boys.

These Game Day Fuel bags are filled with a few simple snacks, a drink, fresh fruit, and one practical little extra for after the game.

Nothing complicated—just a thoughtful way to celebrate the start of a new season.

The full details are on The Ebony Edit. 🖤

The night before a celebration is one of my favori The night before a celebration is one of my favorite times to prep the little details that make hosting feel easier.

For Jovan’s 46th birthday, that meant batching his signature cocktail, The 46—an Old Fashioned made with Maker’s Mark, demerara syrup, aromatic bitters, orange bitters, and a fresh orange peel.

I mixed everything the evening before, transferred it to a decanter, and had it ready for guests the next day. Simple, thoughtful, and one less thing to prepare once the celebration began.

The full recipe is now on The Ebony Edit. 🥃

Jovan’s 46th birthday called for a celebration tha Jovan’s 46th birthday called for a celebration that felt completely like him. 🏀

We gathered at home for Brunch + Basketball with a Starting 5 menu, sneakers throughout the décor, mini Nike favor boxes, and a signature Old Fashioned we called The 46.

The details were fun, but the best part was having some of our favorite people together to celebrate another year.

Cheers to 46, my love—and another winning season. 🥃🏀

A little greenery in the kitchen that’s as useful A little greenery in the kitchen that’s as useful as it is beautiful. 🌿

I love keeping fresh basil, mint, and rosemary within reach—whether I’m adding basil to an appetizer, mint to a refreshing cocktail, or clipping a little rosemary for an unexpected flower moment.

It’s one of those everyday details that makes the kitchen feel a little more special.

I’m sharing more about my kitchen herb garden, along with a few of my favorite ways to use each herb, today on The Ebony Edit at ebonypeoples.com.

There’s something especially nice about happy hour There’s something especially nice about happy hour at home. 🍷

Nothing elaborate—just a favorite glass of wine, a few simple bites, and a little time to slow down.

For this little happy hour moment, I poured a glass of Riesling and paired it with a simple board of sharp cheddar, salami, pepperoni, crackers, grapes, olives, and glazed nuts.

Sometimes, making an ordinary afternoon feel special really can be that simple.

The full story, The Simple Pleasure of Happy Hour at Home, is now on The Ebony Edit at ebonypeoples.com.

Every day is a day worth celebrating. ✨

Before the guests arrive, there’s a quiet moment w Before the guests arrive, there’s a quiet moment when months of planning, design, and thoughtful details finally come together.

From an empty ballroom to a reception filled with draping, candlelight, florals, and carefully styled tables, every layer helps create the atmosphere for what’s to come.

Then the doors open, the room fills, and the celebration begins.

A closer look at this transformation is now on The Ebony Edit.
