Hello Friends!

Some of my favorite entertaining details are also the simplest.
On a warm summer afternoon, something as small as offering your guests a cool, lightly scented towel can feel incredibly thoughtful. It’s refreshing, unexpected, and takes only a few minutes to prepare before everyone arrives.
These chilled lavender towels are especially lovely for outdoor entertaining—whether you’re gathering for happy hour, enjoying dinner on the patio, or spending an afternoon in the backyard.
And while they feel like a special little luxury, they couldn’t be easier to make.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Small white washcloths or hand towels
- Cold water
- Lavender essential oil
- Fresh lavender, optional
- A large bowl
- A tray, basket, or serving dish
- Refrigerator
HOW TO MAKE CHILLED LAVENDER TOWELS
Fill a large bowl with cold water and add 2–3 drops of lavender essential oil. A little goes a long way—you want the fragrance to be very light rather than overpowering.
Dip each towel into the lavender water, then wring it out well so that it is damp but not dripping.

Fold or roll the towels neatly and arrange them on a tray or in a shallow container. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
Just before your guests arrive, transfer the towels to your serving tray. If you have fresh lavender, tuck in a few sprigs for a beautiful finishing touch.

A THOUGHTFUL TOUCH FOR GUESTS
I love the idea of bringing these outside after guests have settled in—or offering them after an afternoon spent in the sun.
Place the tray somewhere easily accessible and simply say, “I have chilled lavender towels if you’d like one.”
There’s no elaborate presentation necessary. The cool towel, subtle lavender scent, and pretty tray do all the work.
MAKE IT YOUR OWN
Lavender is beautiful for summer because it feels fresh and calming, but the same idea can be adapted with other gentle scents.
You could use fresh mint or citrus-infused water instead, or skip fragrance altogether and simply offer beautifully rolled chilled towels.
It’s less about the lavender and more about anticipating what might make your guests a little more comfortable.
And to me, that’s what thoughtful entertaining is all about.
What’s one small detail you love adding when entertaining at home?
