Hello Friends!
Some of my favorite entertaining ideas are the ones that take something familiar and make it feel just a little more special.
Hummus is already one of those easy appetizers I love to serve. Add warm naan, a drizzle of olive oil, and a few thoughtful garnishes, and it always feels welcoming. But shaping it into a flower makes the presentation feel especially pretty without making it complicated.
This hummus flower is simple enough for an afternoon snack, but beautiful enough to place on the table when friends are coming over.

START WITH A SIMPLE WHITE PLATE
I used a 10.5-inch round white dinner plate for this presentation. The round shape naturally works with the flower design and gives the hummus enough room to spread without feeling oversized.
A simple white plate also allows all of the colors—from the basil and sumac to the chickpeas and salami rose—to stand out.
CREATE THE HUMMUS PETALS
Spoon approximately 16 to 20 ounces of hummus onto the plate.
Working outward from the center, use the back of a spoon to gently pull the hummus into individual petals. I like leaving a little texture in each one rather than trying to make everything perfectly smooth.
The goal is for the flower to feel relaxed and organic.
Once the petals are formed, add a small drizzle of extra virgin olive oil along the center of each petal.

ADD A SAVORY FLOWER CENTER
For the center, I made a small rose using thin slices of Genoa salami.
Arrange several small fresh basil leaves around the rose, then tuck in a few rinsed and dried chickpeas.

A light sprinkle of sumac adds beautiful color and a subtle tangy flavor without overpowering the hummus.

SERVE WITH WARM NAAN DIPPERS
Lightly warm the naan dippers and place them in a small serving bowl alongside the hummus flower.
I like to arrange them casually, with some pieces standing upright and others slightly overlapping. Keeping the presentation relaxed makes the appetizer feel welcoming and easy to enjoy.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 16–20 ounces prepared hummus
- Extra virgin olive oil
- ¼–⅓ cup canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- Thinly sliced Genoa salami
- Small fresh basil leaves
- Sumac
- Naan dippers

A SIMPLE DETAIL THAT FEELS SPECIAL
There’s no complicated recipe involved here. It’s really just about taking an everyday appetizer and giving a little extra thought to the presentation.
That’s one of the things I love most about entertaining at home. Sometimes the smallest details are the ones guests remember.
Would you serve this hummus flower for happy hour, a casual gathering, or your next girls’ night?
