An Intimate Vow Exchange Dinner Party

February 14, 2024

Hello Friends!

There is something incredibly special about a celebration that feels deeply personal to the couple at the center of it all. Delesha and Kalu’s intimate vow exchange at The Thompson Hotel in Atlanta was exactly that—a beautiful evening filled with meaningful moments, vibrant color, and the people they love most.

After celebrating their engagement with a stylish session at The Thompson Hotel, Delesha and Kalu returned to the hotel for an intimate wedding celebration that felt uniquely their own.

AN INTIMATE CELEBRATION

Rather than a traditional wedding day, Delesha and Kalu envisioned an intimate dinner party where they could exchange vows and celebrate surrounded by their closest family and friends.

The evening brought together the intimacy of a dinner party with the beauty and significance of a wedding celebration. Every detail was thoughtfully considered to create an experience that felt warm, personal, and full of life.

A CELEBRATION IN FULL COLOR

Color played a defining role in the design of the evening.

Rich shades of plum, magenta, pink, purple, and green filled the room, complemented by warm gold details and candlelight. Lush floral arrangements brought height and movement to the tables, while orchids appeared throughout the celebration—from Delesha’s cascading bouquet to Kalu’s boutonnière and the floral installations surrounding the couple.

A single long table created an intimate setting for dinner, bringing everyone together for the celebration. Textured plum linens, gold chairs, layered place settings, candlelight, and florals transformed the space while maintaining the warmth of a gathering among family and friends.

THE VOW EXCHANGE

At one end of the room, an abundant floral installation created a beautiful setting for Delesha and Kalu to exchange their vows.

Surrounded by their guests, the two stood beneath layers of colorful blooms and greenery as they made their commitment to one another. The ceremony felt intimate and intentional—a meaningful moment woven naturally into the evening rather than separate from it.

DINNER, DANCING + CELEBRATION

Following their vows, the evening transitioned into dinner and celebration.

There was cake, music, dancing, laughter, and plenty of joyful moments shared around the room. It was exactly what an intimate celebration should feel like—not defined by its size, but by the experience created for the people gathered together.

And through all of the beautiful details, the heart of the evening remained Delesha and Kalu.

I love keeping fresh basil, mint, and rosemary within reach—whether I’m adding basil to an appetizer, mint to a refreshing cocktail, or clipping a little rosemary for an unexpected flower moment.

It’s one of those everyday details that makes the kitchen feel a little more special.

I’m sharing more about my kitchen herb garden, along with a few of my favorite ways to use each herb, today on The Ebony Edit at ebonypeoples.com.

There’s something especially nice about happy hour There’s something especially nice about happy hour at home. 🍷

Nothing elaborate—just a favorite glass of wine, a few simple bites, and a little time to slow down.

For this little happy hour moment, I poured a glass of Riesling and paired it with a simple board of sharp cheddar, salami, pepperoni, crackers, grapes, olives, and glazed nuts.

Sometimes, making an ordinary afternoon feel special really can be that simple.

A simple appetizer, made just a little more special. 🌿

I shaped hummus into a flower and finished it with chickpeas, fresh basil, sumac, olive oil, and a salami rose in the center. Served with warm naan dippers, it’s an easy idea for summer entertaining, happy hour, or a casual gathering at home.

Fresh flowers don’t always have to mean a full arrangement.

For this little kitchen flower moment, I filled magnetic test tubes with lavender, rosemary, and baby’s breath and arranged them right on the refrigerator.

It’s simple, unexpected, and such an easy way to bring a little beauty into an everyday space.
