Tasty Tuesday: Pinkberry Caters Weddings!

It’s Tasty Tuesday!  Although it’s pretty chilly in Dallas today, I know that the summer heat is on the way!  As we continue to plan wedding and events for the summer months, I encourage my clients to think of fun and unique ways to keep their guests cool!  As temperatures often creep up to 90 and even 100+ at times, I can’t help but to think about frozen yogurt!  Pinkberry has reinvented frozen (and now Greek) yogurt with a tart, light, and refreshing taste.  In addition to the hundreds of store locations worldwide, Pinkberry also caters weddings!  Whether you’re in Michigan, Texas, or anywhere in between, a frozen yogurt station would be the perfect addition to your summer wedding reception!

Tasty Tuesday: Eat Seasonably

It’s Tasty Tuesday!  As you know, tomorrow is the first day of Spring.  In honor of the seasons changing, I’d like to share a list for eating and selecting foods within season.  With this list, you’ll be able to plant your own seasonal garden and partake in foods that are grown closer to your home.  This, in turn, will save you a bit of cash while grocery shopping and promote a healthy lifestyle change.  (Healthy eating is at the tops of my to-do list for this year!)  Take a peek at the chart below courtesy of Style Me Green:

I’m looking forward to the fresh spinach and sweet strawberries in the upcoming season!  (I see lots of fun combinations for mini salads and finger foods for an upcoming Spring Fling on the patio!)  What are you looking forward to most about Spring?  I’d love to know!

XOXO,

Tasty Tuesday: Mini Baked Samoa Doughnuts

It’s Tasty Tuesday and Girl Scout Cookie time!   I have a confession: My hubby and I have ran through 2 boxes of girl scout cookies in the less than 24 hours.  I am making a conscious effort to eat healthy foods but when Samoas (aka Caramel deLites) and Shortbread (aka Trefoils) are around, it’s another story!  As opposed to counting the endless number calories in the Girl Scout Cookies, I focus on supporting the organization.  After all, I am a former Girl Scout too!

As I was browsing the internet (and munching on cookies), I ran across the recipe for Mini Baked Samoa Doughnuts!  This would like the perfect accompaniment to my morning coffee!

Tasty Tuesday: Nacho Loaded Potato Skins

The countdown continues!!  Beyoncé will be hitting the stage this Sunday, February 3rd for the Super Bowl XLVII half time show!  As you can see, Beyoncé (and the snacks) will be the highlight of Sunday evening!  In addition, the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers will be on the field competing for the title!  As you enjoy the festivities, what will you be snacking on?

Here’s a peek at the perfect combination of carbs and Tex-Mex:  Nacho Loaded Potato Skins!  These treats, courtesy of What’s Gaby Cooking, will be the perfect addition to your football food spread!

Dallas Wedding Planner, Dallas Event Planner, What's Gabby Cooking?, Super Bowl XLVII, Football Food

Ingredients:

*6 Russet Potatoes, scrubbed and pricked with a fork

*olive oil

*6 strips applewood smoked bacon

*1 tsp garlic powder

*1 tsp red pepper flakes

*1 cup refried beans

*1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

*1 cup Chipotle Guacamole

*1 cup salsa

Optional:

*chopped scallions

*sour cream

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Drizzle the whole potatoes with olive oil and place on a baking sheet. Bake for about 60 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.

3. While the potatoes are baking, cook off 6 pieces of bacon until crispy and then set aside to cool. Once cooled, roughly chop the bacon.

4. Remove from oven and let cool until they are cool enough to handle. Cut the potatoes in half, lengthwise, and scoop out a most of the flesh, leaving about 1/4 inch remaining.

5. Crank the oven up to 450 degrees F.

6. Place the cut potatoes back onto the baking sheet, flesh side up. Lightly drizzle the tops with olive oil and a sprinkle of garlic powder and red pepper flakes and place them back into the oven for about 10 more minutes. Flip them onto their other side and bake for another 10 minutes before removing them from the oven.

7. Arrange the potatoes on the baking sheet, cut side up.

8. Spoon equal amounts of refried beans into each potato, followed by equal parts bacon and shredded cheese. Place the potato skins back into the oven for 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts.

9. Take the potatoes out of the oven and top them with salsa, guacamole, sour cream, scallions, chives or whatever else you’d like to top them with and serve immediately.

Tasty Tuesday: Hot Chocolate On A Stick

There’s a chill in the air and the winter holidays are in full effect!  It’s the perfect time to partake in a few mugs of hot chocolate!!  This has and will always be a favorite of mine – espeici!  I recently came across the recipe for Hot Chocolate on a Stick courtesy of Tatertots & Jello!  Yup, you heard right!  This would be the perfect sweet treat to pass along to your neighbors, send to your kids’ teachers/classmates, or serve at your upcoming holiday celebration!

Dallas Wedding Planner, Dallas Event Planner, Hot Chocolate on a Stick, Tatertots & Jello, The TomKat Studio

Hot Chocolate on a Stick

Ingredients:

- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

- 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

- 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips

- 3/4 cups unsweetened baking chocolate (or 6 – 1 oz blocks)

Instructions:

Line an 8″ x 8″ pan with parchment paper or foil (or you can use a silicone mold like I did). Heat the cream and condesed milk over low heat until steaming. Remove from heat and add chocolate. Allow to melt gently. After 10 minutes, return the chocolate mixture to low heat to completely melt the chocolate. Whisk vigorously until mixture is thick and shiny. Pour into pan or scoop in silicone molds. Shake or tap on counter to level. Set aside overnight to set. (I put in the refrigerator) If using a silicone mold, pop each block out of the mold. If using a pan, run a knife around the edge and turn out onto a cutting surface. Slice into 1 1/4″ cubes. For the smoothest cuts, heat a knife in hot water and wipe dry before each cut. Stick a wooden stick in each block.
